Forensic Psychology

Forensic psychology is at the intersection between psychology and the criminal justice system. Students will explore the application of psychological theory and research techniques to legal issues such as the psychopathology and psychodynamics of crime; false and recovered memories; social psychology of the courtroom; witness and victim interrogation and testimony; the insanity defense; jury selection; the penalty phase of a trial; use of polygraphs; and profiling. Students will participate in experiential learning through mock exercises related to the topics covered in the course.
