Message from the Principal
Thank you to Kate Kulacz and our school counselors for hosting an alumni panel for our students that allowed them to learn about the college process from recently graduated peers. Two of the things that each of the alumni all agreed upon was that Bow High School prepared them well for college and, despite being a relatively small school, they had many more opportunities than their college peers who came from larger schools. Kudos to the BHS Staff for making this true.
Also, thank you to Pam Cafasso and Connor Parzick for everything they did to organize and run the Bow Bot Bout. It was terrific to see so many talented students in our schools competing and having fun.

Saturday was a perfect example of why our recent alums so strongly believed that they had a lot of opportunities at Bow High School. Saturday BHS hosted the Bow Bot Bout welcoming schools from New Hampshire, Maine, and Vermont to compete in the Vex Robotics competition. Students had to design, build, repair, and adapt their machines to the challenges of the competition.
At the same time, BHS hosted a quad wrestling meet welcoming Division 1, 2, and 3 schools to our gym. Our wrestling team is looking to three-peat this year and the student-athletes are off to a great start.
In both cases these opportunities were provided to our students by dedicated staff members who give of their time to work with our students and help them take part in their passions. Also, in both of these cases, there was strong parent and community support to host the events and cheer on our students. Thank you to everyone for their support and giving of their time and talents.
Parental Consent for Audio and Video Recordings
If you have not already done so, please complete this Parental Consent for Audio and Video Recordings as soon as possible. This will allow us to continue the normal school operations for instructional and co-curricular purposes. Students who are 18 years of age may sign the form for themself.
What is Flex Time?
Flex Time is an academic period of the day that begins at 7:30 and goes until 8:15. On “Odd Days” English, Social Studies, & Science teachers are available to work with students, and on “Even Days” Math, Art, Music, FACS, BEST, Business, & World Languages teachers are available.
Flex Time is intended for students to make up assignments, complete assessments, and receive additional support and instruction. This time is also used for additional learning opportunities such as Honors Level or Lab activities. Flex time is an academic commitment and any student who is asked to meet with a teacher needs to plan to be present as they would for a class period. Flex Time also takes precedence over co-curricular or club activities.
Flex Time is a universal academic intervention and should always be the first intervention utilized prior to accessing other opportunities. If you have any questions please contact me, Academic Dean Svea Schreiner, or your student’s school counselor.
America 250!
As a Social Studies teacher I want to begin sharing different stories celebrating the United States on our nation’s 250th birthday. This week I share a story about Paul Revere’s Midday ride to warn the citizens of New Hampshire that the British army was on the move: Paul Revere and New Hampshire.

Virtual Meeting for Seniors and Families
We will be hosting a virtual meeting for Seniors and their families on Monday, February 2nd at 6:00PM. At this meeting we will discuss senior activities and answer questions. It will be recorded for those who are unable to attend.
In the Classroom
One of the things I am most proud of at Bow High School is our model of inclusion. BHS offers two Unified Athletic Programs, soccer and basketball, as well as a Unified Music class, a Peer-to-Peer class in which students learn daily life skills, and a Unified PE Class. The Unified PE class has student peers working together to foster inclusivity, understanding, and empathy. Students engage in a variety of activities that give them the opportunity to learn from and support one another. It speaks to the character of Bow High School students that our Unified Teams are significantly larger than almost every other school in the state and our Unified classes are overenrolled. Thank you to everyone in our LINKS Program to everything they do to teach and support our students.

Message from the Principal
Hello from Bow High School. I hope everyone had a wonderful Winter Break and a Happy New Year. This week we pick up right where we left off in December with classroom learning, practices, games, rehearsals, and some special events including Senior Seminar Final Talks and the Bow Bot Bout on Saturday.
Over break our Boys Basketball Team competed in the Capital Area Classic Tournament and came away as champions. Congratulations to the team!
As a reminder, we have a CARE Closet located in the library for any student who may need warm clothes or other essentials. Also, if there is a fee attached to any activity that a family may have difficulty paying, we have funds to assist. Please let me or your student’s school counselor know if this may be the case.

Winter Tournaments
Thank you to our coaches who spent some of their Winter Break coaching our students in winter tournaments. We all appreciate the ways in which coaches give of their time to provide opportunities for our student-athletes. Thank you too to Mike Desilets and Julie Guerrette for everything they do to organize and manage our athletic program.
Visit from Congresswoman Goodlander
Representative Goodlander will be visiting BHS on Monday and will be speaking to a couple of Social Studies and Humanities classes about the US Constitution as the nation prepares to celebrate its Semiquincentennial (250th anniversary). We look forward to future events celebrating our nation’s birthday as the year progresses.

Alumni Panel
On Wednesday the School Counseling Department will be hosting an alumni panel Period 7. The panel is designed to help students think about post-high school plans and ways they can be planning for their futures. Seniors and Juniors will attend the panel from 1:30 - 2:00 and Sophomores and Freshmen will attend 2:00 - 2:30. We are excited to offer this to our students and welcome back some recent graduates.

In the Classroom
Although not technically “in the classroom” the work of the food services staff at Bow High School play an integral role in the education of students. Each day the staff prepares a number of offerings for students such as tacos, gyros, pasta, chicken, salads, a made to order sandwich bar, and even sushi. The people in the cafeteria are some of the kindest and hardest working people students get to interact with each day at BHS. It says a lot about the people in the cafeteria that they take the time to learn the names of our students and often offer a kind word of encouragement when they come through the lunch line. We are lucky to have such a great crew preparing food for our students.

Message from the Principal
Greetings from Bow High School. This week we have classes on Monday and Tuesday and then Winter Break begins. We will return to school on Monday, January 5th. Over break there are a couple of tournaments for our athletic teams so I hope to see many of you in the gym or at the rink. Looking ahead, we will be hosting the Bow Bot Bout on January 10th which is always a highlight of the year. And, Seniors will be presenting their final talks for Senior Seminar when we return from break.
As we head into a new year I share a quote from Anne Frank: “What a wonderful thought it is that some of the best days of our lives haven't even happened yet.” Happy New Year Falcons!
Scoop from the Senate
In the past month, the Senate ran our annual gift card raffle at the Craft Fair, and raised almost $1500! Thank you to everyone who participated and donated. Earlier this month, we ran our first student forum as well. These will now be MONTHLY, so be on the lookout for updates about that. The next forum will be on new classes and will be held in the Auditorium on January 14th for Juniors and Seniors and January 15th for sophomores and freshmen during lunch. Please show up with ideas!

Follow-Up to Superintendent Kelley’s Message Regarding Recordings
Teachers have long used recordings for a variety of academic purposes. For instance, when I was in high school my band director had all of us record ourselves playing scales and we submitted them to him on a cassette tape so he could assess us (please note - there are a number of people reading this message who have never seen a cassette tape, listened to a cassette tape, or had the pleasure of making a ‘mix tape’ so this may need explanation). There will continue to be times when recordings will be utilized in the classroom so moving forward, when those assignments arise, parents will be asked to provide permission for their student. As Superintendent Kelley mentioned in her message, the SAU and other districts around the state, will be collaborating on how best to manage larger events that have traditionally been recorded or streamed such as games, concerts, and special events.

In the Classroom
One of the electives in the Visual Arts Department is Metalsmithing. This is a class in which students design and create works of art using metal. On Friday when I visited the class, students were completing a project in which they were setting stones in metal vessels that they had designed and produced. There are a variety of tools that students use in this class and paying attention to every detail is important in the creation of their work. Sarah Bragg does an excellent job of challenging students to think creatively and persevere through challenges that arise while they work on projects in this class. These are just two of the valuable skills taught in art that are transferable to other disciplines.

Message from the Principal
Congratulations to the cast and crew of “The Diary of Anne Frank”. You did a tremendous job and I am so impressed by the hard work and talent that was on display. There will be another opportunity to support our students this Thursday when the music department performs for the winter concert (7:00PM). We will also have our first home wrestling meet on Wednesday so there are plenty of opportunities to come out and cheer on our students.
This week we have a Flex Day on Wednesday. Students and families will get student appointments via email. Given that the end of the First Semester is fast approaching, this day will be an excellent time to get caught up on assignments or work on enrichment projects. There will also be some fun winter activities put on by our School Counseling Department to keep spirits high heading into the winter break.

Poetry Out Loud
Congratulations to Paige Rabalais for coming in First Place in this year’s competition. Also, congratulations to Aleksandra Graham-Binder (2nd place), Drew Tilbury and Alicia Johnson (tied for 3rd place). A big thank you to Mrs. Dustin for organizing such a great event, Mrs. Rockenhauser for the awesome music and Sean McDonald for emceeing.
Safety Drills
On Friday we did a lockdown tabletop exercise. In advisories students walked through a scenario and discussed what they would do. We wanted to begin with this so that when we do an actual lockdown drill students and staff were familiar with procedures and felt more comfortable. I will communicate any lockdown drill in advance to students and families so you know exactly when it will occur. Please reach out with any questions.

In the Classroom
Engineering Design II is a class that makes use of both the digital robotics lab as well as the workshop. Students are currently working on a project where they are designing and testing different beams to test how weight bearing they are. Students begin the design phase on the computer and then transition to creating their beams with a variety of different tools and resources. One of the neat things about this class is the way that students work through problems to come up with solutions and the creativity they show in their thinking. Kudos to Sean Carroll for creating such a great space for students to learn.

Message from the Principal
This week promises to be another busy week at Bow High School. In addition to classroom activities and lessons, our winter sports teams begin their seasons, and our theater program presents “The Diary of Anne Frank” Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.
On Monday we will have our next School Meeting (here is the schedule for that day: School Meeting). In addition to the annual Poetry Out Loud contest, there will be updates from each of the classes as well as announcements for students. We will also have a sneak preview of some of the music that the Performing Arts Department has been working on for their next concert.
Today, December 7th, marks the anniversary of the attack on Pearl Harbor in 1941. This attack led to the United States formally entering WWII. Today, there are very few WWII veterans still living amongst us. To those veterans, the world owes a debt of gratitude. Here is a link to the WWII Museum’s website which has information about Pearl Harbor and WWII. In New Hampshire, the Wright Museum in Wolfeboro is an excellent site to visit to learn more about the war.

Helping our Neighbors
The winter months can be challenging for families for a number of reasons. If you are a family in need of assistance, please reach out to me or your student’s school counselor. Also, if there is a school event that has a cost associated with it that cannot be covered, please let me know as we have resources available to help. Also, we have a Care Closet in the Learning Commons with warm clothing that is free for any member of our school community.
Students, you know who your neighbors are that might have difficulty shoveling snow or removing snow from their rooftops. Please keep an eye out for how you might be able to lend a hand during the winter months.
Tennis Court Parking Lots
Now that it has snowed and we are dealing with winter weather conditions, including limited space due to snow piles, the tennis courts parking lot is no longer going to be open for people to pick their students up after school. Both Bow PD and I believe that it has become a significant safety concern. Thank you for understanding that student safety is the priority at dismissal time.
Lockdown Drill
One way we keep students safe is by doing a variety of drills. On Friday, we are going to do a tabletop drill where students and staff will talk through a lockdown scenario. We begin with a tabletop drill to help build familiarity with procedures before doing an actual drill in the coming weeks. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact me.

In the Classroom
Each year Bow High School hosts Poetry Out Loud; a national competition in which students memorize and perform a poem of their choice. This competition has been organized by Joy Dustin and teachers in the Humanities Department encouraged their students to read and write poems over the past month leading up to the performances this Monday. In addition to poetry students will also hear some selections from the Bow High School Music Department. And for a tasty conclusion to Poetry Out Loud, Jill Pelletier and her students in the FACS Department have been making cookies for when students exit the auditorium. Thank you to all of the teachers and students who bring this event to life each year!

Message from the Principal
Hi Everyone. I hope this message finds you all feeling well rested after the break from classes. This coming week we have several events planned in and outside of school. Our Vex Robotics Team travels to Worcester, MA to compete against teams from all over the northeast, our athletic teams begin practices and scrimmages to start their seasons, and our Performing Arts Department continues final preparations for their upcoming concert and play. Additionally, the St. Paul’s Advanced Summer Program will be presenting information to interested students Thursday morning at 8:00AM, and the Taters, our amazing improv group, will have a performance this Friday at 6:30. Lots of things going on to be sure!

Message from Brenda Barth, Regarding Student Parking Lots
A sincere thank you to members of the Senior Class who brought forth recommendations to make some minor adjustments to parking that is reserved for Seniors in the student parking lots. They met with me on three different occasions, did data collection to determine impact on overall student parking and did so patiently and respectfully.
Due to their efforts, as of Monday, December 1, 2025, the reserved Senior Parking lot will be extended through parking spaces 68-85 (18 additional spaces). These spaces are on the right side of the second lot, by the rock wall. No other grades are allowed to park in these spaces. Senior parking privileges are designated with red stickers. Only red sticker student vehicles are allowed in spaces 1 - 85.
Students: Feel free to seek me out at BHS if you have questions at any time.

In the Classroom
For the past three years, BHS freshmen have participated in Be Bold Student Leadership training from One Trusted Adult during Falcon Time, and so far this year, 60 students have completed the program. Historically, more than 200 BHS students have completed the training! Through interactive activities, challenges, and discussions, students learn effective communication skills, strategies for building connection and belonging, and how to know when to step up or step back as leaders. The training builds confidence, responsibility, and practical skills for contributing positively to our school community, and students earn career exploration hours and a certificate of completion. Thank you to Beth Corkum for facilitating this great opportunity for our students.

Message from the Principal
Greetings from Philadelphia where, contrary to what a popular television show said, it is not always sunny. I am running the Philadelphia Marathon tomorrow and wanted to send this message out now in anticipation of being pretty tired tomorrow.
This week we have an Early Release on Monday. Here is the schedule for the day: Early Release Day. Classes will be an hour each and students who have CRTC should plan to attend their CRTC classes as normal.
Monday afternoon / evening, and all-day Tuesday there will be Student Progress Conferences taking place. Afterwards, I will be sending out a survey to collect feedback that will be shared with the SAU as plans for making next year’s calendar are made.

Senior Class Fundraiser - FREE Driver's Ed Class
The Class of 2026 is raffling a FREE Capital Driving Academy driver's education course, a $900 value! Enter the raffle by dropping off payment to the Bow High School main office. Please include your name and contact information. Tickets are 1 for $10, 3 for $25, 10 for $50 and 30 for $100. Tickets will also be sold in person at the Bow PTO Craft Fair on November 22-23. An online payment option is available, but will cost more due to alma upcharge and transaction fees. In the Classroom
This past week students in Sean Carroll’s Anatomy and Physiology class had the opportunity to participate in a pig dissection in their class. Students in this course develop and apply skills and knowledge related to the human body. The course examines how the body works to maintain homeostasis as well as malfunctions that may cause changes or problems in normal functioning. The structures, functions, interactions, and regulation of human body systems are examined. In addition to the dissection students also learn through modeling, lecture, and animations.

Message from the Principal
This week is our last full week in November (the days are flying by quickly!). Next week we have an Early Release Day on Monday with Student Progress Conferences taking place Monday and Tuesday (11/24 & 11/25).
On Wednesday of this week we have a lot of things occurring at Bow High School. All day we are hosting the state’s Classics Day where students from schools around New Hampshire will be at BHS learning and collaborating with each other. We are also hosting a Military Fair where students can learn about the different service branches and in the afternoon we are offering the ASVAB exam for interested students. There will also be appointments made for students to come in and work with their teachers on assignments and additional learning opportunities.
As the weather has gotten progressively colder I want to remind families that we have a Care Closet at BHS with winter gear. If your family needs assistance with anything please do not hesitate to contact me or a School Counselor. Also, students, make sure that you have a jacket, hat, and gloves with you in case your vehicle breaks down or if we ever need to leave the building during the day.

Flex Day
Students who have been assigned a Flex Day appointment will be receiving an email from me with their appointment times on Monday of this week. The appointments are required and teachers are looking forward to working with students to offer academic support and assistance.
Six years ago we began having Flex Days as a way to support students throughout each semester. We took the 8 days that were reserved for midterm and final exams and spread those 8 days throughout the year. Sometimes we also administer state assessments on Flex Days so as not to lose academic time during the school year (for instance, the March Flex Day will be when the SAT is administered). Message from Brenda Barth, Regarding Student Parking Lots
A sincere thank you to members of the Senior Class who brought forth recommendations to make some minor adjustments to parking that is reserved for Seniors in the student parking lots. They met with me on three different occasions, did data collection to determine impact on overall student parking and did so patiently and respectfully.
Due to their efforts, as of Monday, December 1, 2025, the reserved Senior Parking lot will be extended through parking spaces 68-85 (18 additional spaces). These spaces are on the right side of the second lot, by the rock wall. No other grades are allowed to park in these spaces. Senior parking privileges are designated with red stickers. Only red sticker student vehicles are allowed in spaces 1 - 85.

VEX Robotics Team
Three of five BowBots Robotics teams competed at the Pembroke Academy VEX V5 Holiday Classic Robotics Tournament on Saturday 11/8. All three BowBots teams performed well.
Yttrium, 3773Y, (Bella Chang, Tai Chang, Laura Ciminesi, and Jasmine Ramirez) finished qualification rounds in 15th place.
Carbon, 3773C, (Ross Brennan, Matthew Mampuzha, Matthew Radomski, and Noah Rhodes) finished qualification rounds in 5th place and were eliminated in the quarter finals.
Phosphorus, 3773P finished in first place with their alliance partner 77275B Hello Kitty from Spark Academy. In addition to being Tournament Champions, Phosphorus brought home the Excellence Award, and the special Dave Kelly Award. The Dave Kelley award is unique to this event and is awarded to the team which most embodies the spirit of the VEX Robotics program.

Granite State Challenge
Congratulations to the BHS Granite State Challenge Team and their advisor Michelle Hlavaz for qualifying for the next round in the competition. I’m looking forward to seeing the team compete on television!
Daughters of the American Revolution
Congratulations to Senior William Albushies for receiving the Daughters of the American Revolution Good Citizen Award this past week. This is a wonderful acknowledgement of all the positive contributions to the community William makes.

From now on, Mr. Fisk's News from the Nest will include a monthly update from Senate! Over the past two months, your Student Senate has been hard at work. We set up a successful table at the Fall Festival, and looked at various new schedules before finally compromising on the current one. Upcoming events include the craft fair, forums (once the auditorium opens), student interviews, and a new suggestion box! Look for the Senate’s gift card raffle at the Craft Fair on November 22nd and 23rd. If you have any questions about the aforementioned topics, please feel free to talk to a senator about them.

The Bow Equestrian team informational night will be held November 17,2025 at the Dunbarton town hall @7:00PM. The equestrian team is open to 7-12 grade students with or without a horse. All are welcome.

Senior Class Fundraiser - FREE Driver's Ed Class
The Class of 2026 is raffling a FREE Capital Driving Academy driver's education course, a $900 value! Enter the raffle by dropping off payment to the Bow High School main office. Please include your name and contact information. Tickets are 1 for $10, 3 for $25, 10 for $50 and 30 for $100. Tickets will also be sold in person at the Bow PTO Craft Fair on November 22-23. An online payment option is available, but will cost more due to alma upcharge and transaction fees. This November, our school will have its own Gratitude Tree located in the main lobby.
Each week, this form will be sent out for you to fill out for any friend or classmate that you are thankful for. You can submit as many responses as you would like!
Peer Outreach students will then write down your thankful message on a leaf that we will hang up on the tree.

ASVAB and Military Fair
Mark your calendars — the Military Fair is coming up on Wednesday, November 19th, and the new time is 10:30–11:30 a.m. (starting a little later than before).
Come meet military recruiters and representatives from Norwich University to learn about career paths, college options, and what life in the military could look like for you!
Unfortunately, due to the current government shutdown, we will not have the Blackhawk helicopter display this year, and the fair will be smaller than in previous years.
Don’t forget — the ASVAB (career aptitude test) is still FREE to take! It helps you discover your strengths, explore possible careers, and even earns you 3 Career Exploration Hours toward graduation. In the Classroom
In our World Languages classroom students learn about the history, culture, and languages of different countries. In learning a language, teachers instruct students on how to both write and speak the language so as to be able to communicate with others. In Brigid Carr’s Spanish III class students are working on a project in which they create a trailer for a move in Spanish. The trailers students are writing, and will be recording, include a trailer for a superhero film, an alien abduction film, a murder mystery film, and a horror film. Collaborating in groups of 4, students are learning Spanish while having fun and practicing their oral communication skills.
