Unified Physical Education

This class is designed to meet the physical education needs of students with physical and/or intellectual disabilities that need assistance beyond the standard BEST curriculum. Students who have demonstrated outstanding participation and ability in previous BEST classes can develop leadership skills while learning to work one-on-onewith students needing special assistance to fully benefit from physical education. Students will work collaboratively on the development of fundamental and specialized skills needed to participate in age-appropriate sports and physical activities in an inclusive manner. Activities may be taken from, but are not limited to the following areas: fitness, individual, team and recreational activities. This course is an excellent opportunity for those looking to pursue careers in education, therapy or working with the special needs population. (Conversation with a school counselor required. Class may be repeated with counselor approval)
